The story so far:
Premise: The Quarantine was a smaller town outside of Pittsburgh known as Greeney. The population at its peak was just under ten thousand people. The quarantining of this town happened do to the following events: a recent flood from the Chanice River that flows through town brought a disruption to the locals' water supply and at the same a pharmaceutical company from the big steel city had got an illegal dump site for cheap off in the woods along one of the Chanice channels. The flood waters washed it all into the river. The community had been assured that the water would be fine if they boiled it, but they didn't know anything about the bio-hazards now found in the water. Boiling it would be of no use… This is how the great Quarantine of Greeney, Pennsylvania started.
Illness broke out soon after the flood waters receded. High fevers, nausea, headaches, stomach aches, hallucinations, were just some of the things that started popping up around the city. It was slow to realize at first, most people just thought it was a new bug going around. It wasn't a week later before the outbreak spread at an alarming rate. The city was blocked off and you had to pass a health clearance to even be released from the city. Most everyone was in a hospital or make shift clinic in a warehouse or school gym, they had to fly in doctors in bio suits but no one was recovering. A week and a half after the quarantine the first life was lost. Many more followed. But it was only the beginning.
Within two weeks the population dropped to nearly half its original number of inhabitants…There were two types of survivors. The first and the majority let the illness fester inside of them. They became feral, violent, and dangerous to the others. The second was a smaller group recovering from illness with side minor genetic side effects. Although some were more noticeable side effects than others. There were so few in the second group that those watching the incident unfold from the outside deemed it unsafe to retrieve them. To keep the disease contained the quarantined area was enclosed even more. High sturdy walls were constructed around the perimeter of the city with armed guards and all sewers and underground lines were caved-in. No one goes in and no one gets out. Power was shut off, the only power that remains are from back-up generators individuals and businesses owned. They wouldn't last forever though.
Season One: Season one started out inside the Quarantine walls, following several survivors, namely Oliver and his sister Dawn (who has been both alive and dead at this point), Ari, Kira, and Todd. During the series of events within Season One, Ollie and Ari fell in love, Dawn was revealed to shift back and forth between a feral state, and all decided to leave the Quarantine behind and escape the walls that had kept them from freedom.
Season Two: The group has managed to escape from Quarantine, only to be captured by militants devoted to finding a cure for the sickness. While there, they met John and Amanda, an amnesiac and a waitress, who were also captives subject to testing. Ari's friend Shane, thought to be dead, was also there, working as a soldier. He helped them escape, meeting Agent and her "imaginary" friend Oni, who were searching for their friend who'd been caught up in the Quarantine, along the way. During the escape, they accidentally unleashed several ferals, mutated beyond their original state. After killing the Colonel-- the man who'd run the operations-- the survivors made it to the surface and found a place to hole up for the night. By now, it was apparent that the Quarantine hadn't done shit, and the rest of the US was slowly being infected by the sickness as well. While they were at the safehouse, the other soldier who'd joined them turned on Shane and killed him, though was shot by Shane at the same time. At another twist of fate, Todd's older brother, JJ, also thought to be dead, arrived to take them to a military base where they were training gifted to be soldiers. When they wouldn't cooperate, JJ shot Todd and Ollie. At this point, John revealed his other personality, a dangerous sociopath named Ethan, and proceeded to kick JJ's ass. During the fight, however, JJ's reinforcements arrived and gassed the place, knocking everyone unconscious and taking them to the underground bunker.
Season Three: Season three started up two weeks after the end of Season Two; those who were gifted were put through rigorous training to hone their skills, Agent (The only non-powered in the group at the moment) was trained with guns, and Ollie and Todd hung out at the infirmary. While there, they met the siblings Gabi and Matt, Gabi being a pyro and Matt being non-gifted. John has been memory-wiped once again, and remembers none of the past season; Ethan, however, has started appearing as a hallucination to him-- though, while no other human can see him, Oni has taken to conversing with him. They regroup, after avoiding each other for some time, and start planning escape. Meanwhile, the entire situation is being watched by Mr. Mysterious AKA Creed, who has been hired by an unknown beneficiary to watch them for science. They manage to start their escape, and run into Ben and Benjy, mysterious survivors from a safehaven in California, who've been searching for the group. Benjy is apparently someone from John's forgotten past, though nothing much is said between the two. The two Bens, along with Creed, help the entire group escape, and all pile into a bus and head for California.
They are stopped twice-- once, when they hit a dog, twice when they hit a feral and broke the bus. They manage to get out of the bus and fight their way out of the horde of Ferals, John and Ethan switching places once more during said fight, and then make their way to an "abandoned" restaurant, where they meet Angel, her dog Shadow, and Ari's previous dog Charlie who is now human. For some reason. The injured rested at the restaurant, while those who could move went off to a nearby hospital with Angel, Charlie, and Shadow in order to try and get some supplies. John and Gabi finally had their first conversation, covering their own backstories (or lack thereof in John's case). While they were off, assassin Snake and Percy showed up at the restaurant, and Snake slithered down the chimney like a reasonable fellow and initiated a fight between himself, John, and Gabi. During the fight, he managed to poison John, forcing them to let his cohort Percy in, in order to create the antivenom. JJ, meanwhile, had tracked the group down, and was pacing around outside like the crazy person he is. They were allowed to stay with the group if they promised not to poison anyone else, and many snarky filler conversations were had. Creed performed impromptu surgery on John's elbow, and John and Ethan promptly switched places once again. JJ finally initiated a fight, and shit was about to go down. Then Levi and his dog Socrates introduced themselves by knocking JJ unconscious. His jury-rigged alarm system from his own safehouse spooked Creed, who went on a feral killing spree for a bit and shut it down. When the rest of the group attempted to then attack him after he mouthed off one too many times, he grabbed his dog and left. And then he ran into JJ's backup, led by Maj. Blake, who did not like JJ and did not like anyone. Period. She took her men and surrounded the Restaurant, causing Percy to go out and stall for time, trying to use his toxic breath. Blake finds out and has none of it and brutally injures Percy, going into bloodlust and trying to break the door down. John, Creed, Agent and Gabi meanwhile make smoke bombs, and have Oni deliver them around the area, and Gabi sets them off, causing cover for everyone to at least get outside. And then Levi hit Blake with a truck and everyone piled in back and headed to the hospital to pick people up.
Meanwhile at the hospital, Benjy, Matt, Angel, Ari, Charlie, Dawn, and Big Ben had been foraging for supplies when they alerted a horde of Ferals. They are attacked, and Matt is bitten and subsequently infected. Benjy takes the risk and draws the Ferals as bait, and runs around the building, drawing them away from the group. He passes by a couple of new survivors, Mask and Jojo, who then find their way to the rest of the hospital group and decide to help Matt, as Mask is a doctor. Benjy, meanwhile, ends up getting torn to shreds by Ferals and nearly killed, until he's saved by Steven and his niece Ash. Ash runs off to search for supplies, and bumps into Sasha, who snark at each other. People run around the hospital until the rest of the group finally arrives, and they ditch the car for a hospital bus and get everyone inside so that they can get the hell out of dodge.
((season 3 happened during the switch, so while part of it is lost to us, it starts at the beginning of the Gaia forum, and ends on page 61))
Season Four: Season four starts out two weeks after season three ended, with Levi now the designated driver after what happened with Ben. Steven has turned out to be Gabi's best friend from Pre-Quarantine, and Gabi and John began talking and befriending each other. Benjy developed a crush on Steven, Ari and Ollie were still in love, Dawn began taking medical lessons from Mask, and the bus generally began to accept one another. And then Levi nearly hit a kid in the middle of Arizona. The kid, who they began calling Misfit, was emaciated, weak, and barely alive. Benjy, Ben, Mask, and Dawn immediately brought him aboard the bus, which started an argument between Levi, Sasha, John, and Gabi. Levi eventually began driving again, and Dawn was revealed to have a special healing power based around her blood. The crew stopped off at a Roadhouse as night was falling. Most found the alcohol and immediately began drinking. Mask and Jojo helped Misfit to a backroom, and all three fell asleep. Misfit began having nightmares, and awoke exceedingly distressed, revealing his own power-- the ability to amplify others' abilities to an almost unbearable extent. Jojo went off like a nuclear bomb, and Mask literally began falling apart. John and Ethan swapped, giving Ethan the chance to get Jojo out of there before things really started getting crazy. Snake's jaw unhinged as his fangs grew violently, Percy began choking on his own breath, John received a sensory overload, and Gabi and Ollie's powers began sparking out of control. Misfit, having enough of this, ran back out into the desert, where he collapsed. Ethan was revealed to actually be another gifted, and not a figment of John's mind, and switched hosts, taking hold of Levi. While John was unconscious, reeling from both Misfit and Ethan leaving, Leviathan, Snake, and Creed had some Kraken-y times, Benjy and Steven talked about being gay, Sasha and Ash became drinking buddies, and Jojo just sort of sat in the bus until she'd completely calmed down. And Creed threw up a lot. When John finally woke, Leviathan pulled him to a back room, where the two had a fight, leaving John beaten up and Ethan leaving the group, for good. After a while, Gabi heads back to see what happened to John, only to find him still on the ground and generally reeling from the entire thing. After a minor emotional breakdown via the resident amnesiac, John lost his shirt, the two made out, and both of them generally had a swell time that night. Sorta. Other than, y'know, the complete and utter betrayal and subsequent beat down and ANYWAYS. Cake also became canon as Snake and Creed took Ethan's final words of "Go have sex on a table" to heart and went and had sex on the table. And then moved to the bus after their funtimes drew too much attention. Sasha and Ash have a great old drunken time and go chasing cacti and everyone pretty much winds up passed out drunk at some point.
Leviathan, meanwhile, bumped into Misfit and convinced him to partner up, and thus the dastardly duo flounced off into the sunset. Or, at least, that had been the plan until they ran smack dab into a few unsavory persons who introduced themselves as Sloan, Aaron, Ignis, and their heavily armored cars full of soldiers looking to capture Ethan and Misfit. During the confrontation, Aaron lets slip that he works for none other than a mysterious figure named Alpha, a name which Ethan recognizes and does not appreciate in the slightest. It's revealed that John's name is known among Alpha's men, and it's hinted that he used to work for Alpha. Ethan and Misfit are captured and carted off to an unknown location, and Aaron sends Sloan and Ignis after the others.
Back at the Roadhouse, everyone is waking up from hangovers, only to be further woken up by upstanding citizens Sloan and Ignis, who come knocking at the Roadhouse door asking for shelter. The two attempt to cajole our ragtag group of heroes into taking them to the California border, claiming that they have a storehouse filled with food and supplies there. Since they were heading there anyways, our group of heroes decides to trust these definitely not suspicious whatsoever friendly folks and gives them a ride to said storehouse because it was the best idea in the history of ever.
They arrive at the storehouse and it's everything that Sloan and Ignis said it would be: stocked to the brim with foodstuffs and supplies. And then it's revealed to be everything that everyone already suspected it would be: a complete illusion made by Ignis and a complete trap with Aaron's men pointing guns at them. There's a brief scuffle, in which Gabi gets shot but keeps standing while creating a fire shield like the boss ass bitch she is, Percy gets shot down with tranq guns, and Snake recognizes Aaron from his own mysterious past. Aaron takes Snake and stabs him in the shoulder, as their relationship is anything but friendly, and Aaron hints Snake being the one to 'kill their leader'. The meaning behind this is lost as chaos quickly unfolds with the group still attempting to fight back, and in the ensuing battle Benjy reveals that he knows about Ethan and his tenuous relationship with John. The fighting is stopped by Sloan using her powers to give off a piercing whistle that essentially fries some of Creed's circuitry. John manages to bring Aaron to a stand-off, and Benjy speaks up and confirms that both he and John were a part of Alpha at some point back in Greeney, but managed to escape. Before any of these vague pieces of backstory can be explained, however, the group is saved by a new group of soldiers who drive off Aaron and his men, and reveal that they are none other than members of Haven, who have come via request of Ollie's mother, who is the leader of Haven.
((Season 4 starts on page 62 and ends on page 136))
Season 5: Our rag-tag band of misfits is helicoptered out of the storehouse and are taken to a hospital in Haven, all respectively recovering from their various injuries. Creed is shown to be incredibly uncomfortable in hospitals and is refusing to go past the waiting room, even if he is bleeding black blood from his head. Because of the wound in his arm, the doctors attempt to save Snake's arm, but not before Creed attempts to storm into said surgery to tell the doctors how to do their jobs and generally showing how much he absolutely hates hospitals. And then, just to make matters worse, Dr. Smithson comes waltzing out of Creed's past and into the room. Smithson is revealed to have some hand in Creed's torturous past, but before it can be revealed just what happened Creed is arrested and locked up in one of the wards. Snake manages to slither to the other side of the door, and the two have a talk where Creed reveals that Smithson was part of the crew that turned him into a cyborg, and was the one who kept him calm for the three years that the experiments took place. Creed and Smithson talk privately for a bit, Creed gets a lot of angst off of his chest as well as reveals that he's been monitoring this group to observe their powers. Smithson leaves, Creed returns to Snake and the two agree that Snake's dead arm needs to go and Creed's going to be the one to do it, even though two posts before he was asking whether or not he needed gauze to patch up the bullet holes in his chest. And thus, with an unneeded amount of exposition, Snake's arm is removed.
Meanwhile, down in the territory of none other than Alpha, we get a day in the life of one Dr. Quinn Song, who is examining an MRI on none other than Ethan. Or rather, Ethan and his new host. Aaron steps in and takes over with a minor torture session with our resident parasite, who has left Levi's body to fates unknown for one of Alpha's soldiers. Misfit's fate is also unknown. Aaron attempts to break the man, but only has minor success when threatening John. While taunting Aaron, Ethan lets slip a little more about his and John's past: that they, Benjy, and one unnamed other had joined Alpha willingly back in Greeney before they found out what he really was, and then escaped. Before the two can get much further, Aaron is called into the office of Alpha himself. Alpha gives Aaron the scolding of his life for not seeing the bigger picture, and then does some villainous plotting, ending with him sending Aaron off to kidnap our heroes one by one.
Back at the hospital, Cake has sex in a closet, Snake says 'love', and Creed explains the 'Elliot' mystery: Elliot was a friend of his whom he visited after he was done becoming robocop and who subsequently got into an accident that left him in a coma he never woke up from. Through inner monologue we also get more of Snake's past with Aaron, how they were both raised by a master assassin. The two make out some more, and we are introduced to a couple of shady characters right outside the hospital doing some scavenging who are named Vincent and Sander. Gabi gets out of surgery for her knee, and various other people start waking up and getting up from their various injuries and start regrouping at the waiting room. Benjy, having had enough of this goddamn hospital, takes charge and organizes the rest of the group to locate anyone who's still not there so they can blow this popsicle stand. John, meanwhile, has been wandering about while waiting for Gabi to get out of surgery when he's pulled into what we can only assume is a flashback, with a mysterious blonde girl and something about stairs. He then snaps out of it and goes off to have a mope fest. Everyone eventually gets rounded up, Sander and Vincent included, and they go and steal yet another bus to take it to the Keyes' mansion, where Benjy has been staying, Gabi blows up the door handle, and everyone generally has a swell time. And by swell time I mean there are nightmares for everyone, one of which prompts John into another flashback, another reveals more about Gabi and Matt's past and several dead unnamed family members, and that Creed has something of a guilt-list of his own.
Back down in Alpha's domain, we are shown that Dr. Quinn and none other than Maj. Blake have formed a relationship, due to the fact that Alpha and the Militia have teamed up, and Blake is now currently the liaison between the two.
Meanwhile, Levi has managed to escape from Alpha's domain and has just face-planted right onto the mansion's doorway. Everyone who isn't already awake is woken up and is brought to hear his explanation of where he's been, other than John, Benjy, Steven, and Matt, whose locations are unknown. Levi goes on to warn the others about Alpha and his hatred of those who aren't gifted, as well as mentioning Ethan to the others. Snake, Percy, Gabi and Creed break off to talk about what to do about Levi and generally don't come to a decision other than the fact that they need as much information as he can give them, before Ash returns with Steven, Benjy, John, and Matt still unaccounted for. Meanwhile Sasha and Vincent kiss. Snake goes on the hunt for Matt, and instead finds evidence that Matt was kidnapped. Some panicking, food making, and revenge-planning later, it's also discovered that Steven is now missing as well, having gone to get a shirt and never come back.
In Alpha's domain, Matt is having his head messed with by an unknown assailant. We also get to see that Creed's darling baby sister Cross is also a member of Alpha, and steps in on Matt's behalf. The two talk and befriend one another.
Back at the mansion, Vincent and Sander have a lover's spat over some mysterious man named Viktor, and Snake is taken. While Gabi and Creed figure out what to do about their missing loved ones, Snake gets a happy reunion with Aaron that involves knives. It's revealed that their past assassin group was known as 'Apocrita', and that Aaron was the one to have killed their former leader and framed Snake for it, because Snake was supposed to have become the next leader. Before he can do any major damage, however, Aaron leaves, mentioning that Alpha wants the gifted ones alive. Viktor is shown to be alive and also working for Alpha. Sander and Viktor go off for an unwise car drive and are tailed by a mysterious car and almost driven off the road, only to come back to the mansion and get a verbal lashing from Creed and Gabi. Sander gets butthurt and leaves, only to be caught by none other than Viktor. Gabi, Creed, Percy, John, and Benjy sit down and discuss what to do about the problem, and eventually come up with a plan involving Angel as bait.
Back at Alpha, Viktor and Sander have sex, causing Sander to become infected. Cross goes around to various cells delivering food and generally gets introduced to the other prisoners. She gets to Sander, who is hallucinating an old dead friend of his, and the two start to formulate an escape plan, using the ventilation shafts. Cross manages to get Snake out of his cell and into Sander's, and Viktor comes along to help things for some reason.
The plan to catch the kidnapper is enacted, and goes horrifically wrong. And by horrifically wrong, I mean that instead of catching the kidnapper, the kidnapper managed to take out nearly everyone in the room and take off with John, and is revealed to be none other than Benjy.
The escape plan runs into a hitch, the hitch being none other than Aaron and Sloan. The escapees almost make it, but are forcefully stopped when Blake joins in the fray, Snake's mouth is fused shut, and generally everyone is having an absolutely terrible day. Aaron begins to torture John and Ethan.
Gabi and Creed tell the rest of the cast their rescue plan, which is to steal some of Alpha's guard uniforms and sneak in that way, and out Benjy as the traitor, only to discover that he has genuinely no idea about anything coupled with suspicious memory loss, and Percy reveals himself to also be working with Alpha and that Benjy was a sleeper agent before he throws a grenade at everyone else and takes Agent with him. Agent is taken by Alpha's men, but Percy is left to the mercy of one very angry Creed. Percy is eventually 'convinced' to take the group to Alpha's domain, and the rescue attempt begins. Creed and Gabi take out two guards, steal their uniforms, and bring Vincent in as a 'prisoner'.
By the time they reach the captives, Sander has fallen into a coma and Snake's mouth is still fused shut, but other than that they're relatively okay. Gabi starts to split off to go find Steven and John when the alarm goes off and the hallway is flooded with Alpha's men. Steven is about to be executed, when he's rescued by a mysterious blonde girl with an insect tattoo on her inner wrist. She takes him back to Gabi, while Creed and Vincent have a bit of 'team badass' going on taking out the guards, Creed with his cyborg-y stuff and Vincent with his necromancy powers. The mysterious girl, Gabi, and Steven manage to make it to where Aaron is holding John and Ethan; he's already taken one of John's eyes, and is now holding the two hostage which, considering who he's going up against, lasts about as long as you think it would. Aaron is kicked out of his own torture room, calling desperately for reinforcements as John and Ethan are freed. After some fighting, in which Creed and Snake force Blake to fix Snake's mouth and Ethan finds out about John and Gabi becoming a couple and a whole crapton of people pass out, the group manages to fight their way back to the surface. Before heading their separate ways, Ethan talks a bit with our mystery girl who is revealed to be none other than the Cricket from the mysterious message written on John's hospital band, and the third person to have escaped from Alpha during his stint in Greeney. They all manage to leave, other than Percy who, after flipping the bus, is left behind to die.
After an uneventful drive back involving stick shifts, the group manages to find themselves back at the hospital. John and Gabi have a guilt-ridden conversation when they're both conscious and Gabi let's something slip about not wanting John to become "number seven", and we find out that Creed's blood is made of oysters and that's why it's black. The entire time, Aaron's apprentice Darcy has been sneaking into Haven and setting bombs up around the hospital. Before anyone can do much of anything, they go off, forcing the entire hospital to evacuate. Ethan beats the shit out of Darcy before leaving her to die, helps Creed stay alive, Gabi lights the building on fire, Viktor keeps a couple of dorks from dying, and Matt gets caught in the bathroom when the bombs go off.
They steal yet another bus and manage to make it back to the mansion without much difficulty. People settle back in, Ethan interrupts a Cake moment and almost seduces Creed before he's interrupted himself by John screaming himself awake from a nightmare, a nightmare hinted at being yet another memory of his time in Alpha.
((Season 5 starts on page 136 and ends on page 241))
Mutated, bloodthirsty creatures that were once normal humans until they became infected. Qualities include running generally fast and craving human flesh. Despite the similarities they have to zombies, Ferals can be killed in a number of ways, as their mortality isn't limited to a bullet to the brain.
Names for the individuals who are immune to the infection and gained unnatural abilities as opposed to turning into Ferals. Though no exact statistics exist, the Gifted population is quite large.
